Swarm robotics is about designing ,constructing and controlling swarms of autonomous robots that cooperate to perform tasks that go beyoud the capabilities of the single robots in the swarm.In this talk,I will give an overview of research in swarm robotics in my research lab,IRIDIA,at the Unicersite Libre de Bruxelles. In particular, I will present the main results of two European projects that I have coordinated where homogeneous and heterogeneous swarms of robots cooperate both physically and logically to perform a number of different tasks.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Since 1996, he has been a tenured Researcher of the fund for scientific research F.R.S.-FNRS of Belgium\u2019s French Community, and a Research Director of IRIDIA, Universite’ Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. He isthe inventor of the ant colony optimization metaheuristic.<\/strong>His current research interests include swarm intelligence and swarm robotics.
